5 Things Facebook Could Do Better (if At All)

A couple of friends and I got together for about 4 minutes and came up with a list of things we hate about Facebook. Aside from things like “My mom is on it” and “Farmville”, we decided that these were the things Facebook could do better (if at all):

1. Allow user to dictate what “Top News” is.

The top news feed should be a culmination of anything relevant to YOU, the user. This is what shows up automatically when you open Facebook on your iPhone, and any other time that “Most Recent” isn’t selected. Users should be able to pick and choose who/what they want to show up in this feed. Right now its a bunch of random stuff that typically happened about 13 hours ago.

2. Consolidate and Organize things you’ve “liked” elsewhere.

You know how you can go on CNN.com and ‘like’ stuff? Well nothing really happens after you’ve given it the thumbs up, aside from it showing up on your news feed. Facebook should implement some kind of bookmarking system that compiles and makes all the things you’ve liked easily and readily accessible just in case you want to pull it up again in the future.

3. Allow moderators to comment on Pages as themselves.

If you run a Facebook page, you can only comment on things on that page as the page. Make sense? Example: I have a page for my band “Sexy Bitches”. If someone leaves a comment on my band page, I can’t respond as Almitra, I must respond as “Sexy Bitches”. This gets annoying and you should have the option to switch between yourself and the band.

4. Inviting people to events and the inability to “select all”.

If you create an event, you have to select the people you want to invite one-by-one. Another nuisance, and while it seems that this functionality is available intermittently, I just checked and it doesn’t work for me. Let me know if you experience otherwise.

5. No “Reply”, just “Reply All”.

If you receive a Facebook message that is addressed to multiple people, the only option for responding is to reply all. This sucks. Change it, Facebook.

Feel free to comment below to point out additional gripes. Thanks.
