If you use Twitter, check out these tools

I see a ton of questions floating around on topics from alternative dashboards to gauging metrics on Twitter. Guess what, there are a million of them out there! Good news is that a lot of them are free and since using Twitter is very important part of my job, I can give you advice on which ones are rad and what they’re good for. Some of them might are a little bit questionable, but I included them anyway, mainly because I’d like to see reliable versions of them released soon (they’re good ideas).

Tweetdeck

tweet deck

An Adobe Air app that runs on your desktop separate from your browser. Tweetdeck is rad because you can set up groups for friends, coworkers, whatever; which makes for easier viewing (especially if you’re following 94875 people). It also has a nifty URL shortener as well as the ability to manage settings and tweets all within the program.

Hootsuite

hootsuite

This is probably my favorite Twitter tool of the bunch. Why? You can manage multiple Twitter accounts, it has a URL shortener that tracks clicks, it compiles statistics, and the Owl mascot is cute.

Twitalyzer

Twitalyzer

Evaluates Twitter users and measures their impact in Social Media. It gives a score on the influence, signal, generosity, velocity, and clout of a user.

Tweet Grid

This is an awesome tool for running multiple searches. I can have up to 9 Twitter searches going on at once, all on one screen.

TweetEffect

tweeteffect

Very cool tool that gives insight into how many followers you are gaining/losing and whether or not what you tweet is hurting or helping you!
